Today is my office Xmas party, which is nice since we're going to Cirque de Soleil and then having drinks at The Slanted Door afterwards.

Unfortunately that means no Fydy for me this week. Also, although I am considering heading over to the Cat Club afterwards for Clockwork's triumphant (one hopes) return to the city we'll have to see how I'm feeling by the time 10pm rolls around.

Good start to the weekend

After work yesterday I headed over to the Hyatt Regency to hang with [info]trinsf, [info]britgeekgrrl  and [info]hai_irouchuujin. I arrived later than I would have liked and stayed a bit later than originally planned but had a very good time. We discussed another Hugo nominee; Ted Chiang's Exhalation-which was the most recent Escape Pod broadcast but which I haven't read yet, [info]britgeekgrrl  brought a pint of Humphrey Slocomb's 'secret breakfast' flavor (corn flakes and bourbon) which was delicious, and I promised to bring some bacon chocolate next week. We were joined later by [info]digitalsidhe  and then by two other folks whose names escape me now, Paul and someone else... this was shortly before I left, so I didn't get to chat much with them, unfortunately.

Clockwork SF
was on Friday, and I've been meaning to attend since it started a few months ago. Once the momentum got rolling we ended up with a nice group; [info]sinmix , [info]clockworkbuddha , [info]jadecat9  and [info]kilah_hurtz  and self all piled in the DadMobile and headed over to Julie's Supper Club to see what was what.

I was worried that it would just be a goth club with goggles slapped on but it was really lots of fun. We ran into [info]digitalsidhe  before even getting through the door. The crowd was a neat combo of nerdgoths and fannish types with a good variety of outfits from victorian gothy to all out steampunk. There were several DJs with a decent varierty of swirly, stompy and steamy with a little brit-hop for added randomness. Additionally there was birthday cake and skulls and rayguns. So yes, recommended. I will definitely go again next month.

Saturday I had casual brunch plans with Journaless Joe Price but we both got a late start apparently so instead I had bacon and eggs and watched some Doctor Who with [info]foxmoor , this week 'City of Death' with Tom Baker, the plot of which seemed very familiar from reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. After that I got dinner with JP instead, doing the Sausalito stroll before driving through Point Richmond and finally catching an 8ish showing of 'Waltzing With Bashir' which was good but depressing.

Sunday I rested. If by resting you mean laundry, chores and trying to puzzle the intricacies of Illustrator. Ok, admittedly there was also fried chicken, beer and Waking the Dead.

If I where to go to Bootie tomorrow (big IF, I am too broke to justify it really)

Anyone else likely to be there?
