Considering that I did nothing practical on Saturday, this was a surprisingly productive weekend.
Friday on the way home I stopped at the Goodwill on Van Ness and scored some good costuming bits and bobs getting out with a bagful of stuff for $20 :)
Saturday was the Browcoat meetup so JP and I got some protein and grits at the Welcome Home and then headed over to Cafe Murano where the joint was already hopping. At 1:30ish it was still going strong and I was tempted to stay, having plunked down $40 for the Can't Stop the Serenity screening I decided to get out while I was still ahead (or at least not too far behind) and head over to the Book Swap. We stopped at Borderlands first so I could get rid of even more books and I was dismayed to realize that the Tiptree event was about to start, so I missed that... but it was nice say howdy to Jude and to Jacob from Tachyon, if only briefly. Ripley was hiding, though.
The Book Swap was wrapping up when I arrived but there was still cheap booze (which would have been free if I had remembered to bring a cup!) a good DJ and lots of books. I walked out with half a dozen paperbacks without hardly trying.
Flush with success we headed back to the Castro to Orphan Andy's, where I had some very good blueberry pie and
clockworkbuddha was enticed into joining up with us, and he then convinced
sinmix to come along as well for what became an evening of bar hopping. The advantage to bar hopping with a trained medical professional? They make sure you don't end up with a hangover :)
Sunday was all about con prep; the goggles are nearly done, I just need to get some superglue from the hardware store today. I received the box of watch parts that I had ordered and started fiddling with those as well. I also worked on some half-done art for BayCon and a new sketch.
Alas, it is now Monday.
